As we start this second month of 2022, are you finding it hard to remain hopeful? I know I am finding it a challenge. The rapid spread of Omicron and the impact of the pandemic on daily life has left many of us feeling knocked down and defeated. Once again, we find ourselves needing to readjust and adapt to ever-changing measures, all the while trying our best to keep our families and communities safe. Our focus seems to be somehow shifting from trying not to catch the virus to wondering when we might catch it and how severely it could affect our families.
Know that if you are struggling, you are not alone. Rates of depression and anxiety are on the rise among, parents, children, teens, and everyone else in general. Your mental health is vital. If you feel like you need a little extra boost energy or support, don’t hesitate to reach out to one of the many wonderful resources available to our community. Feel free to take part in any of our Family Matters programming or in the weekly Getting Through it Together chats put on by EPIQ (English-speaking Parents in Quebec) volunteers.
If you are feeling distressed and need help, please get in touch with the supportive mental health team at Jeffery Hale Community Services or call the 24 hour/7 days a week Info-social line. Dial 811, and choose option 2. Please also check these two great mental health tools:
- Mental health and wellness during the COVID-19 pandemic
- Don’t forget your children’s mental health – A useful tool for identifying stress in your child or teen.
Sending you love and positive thoughts
As Valentine’s Day approaches, although energy levels are low, let’s try to share some love with those around us. Send an air hug or a smile to your neighbors, call someone on the telephone or through video chat. Also, let’s all try to send some positive thoughts and love to those that are putting themselves at risk every day: our dedicated health care workers, teachers, educators and front-line workers.
My thoughts are with you these days and I am sending lots of virtual love your way. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you need assistance. I would be happy to share resources or point you in the right direction: jprice@jhpartners.net

Warmest regards,
Jessica
