I’d like to start by thanking everyone for coming out in such big numbers to help us kick off the season at our Outdoor Family Kickoff to Summer this past June 10. What an incredible turnout we had for the second edition of this fun event. So many familiar faces, and we loved meeting so many new families too. It was glorious to see all the kids playing and running around, sporting their fabulous painted faces.
We have a few thanks to extend: To the Morrin Centre for a great outdoor edition of Storytime, to guest author Mariève T. Lessard for reading her new children’s book When Three Becomes Four, to all the volunteers that helped us out during the event and, of course, to you for coming out with your family to make this event a great success.
Thanks also to my wonderful colleague Jarryd Smith, our WE Dads Community Animator, for getting parents and kids moving on the motor skills course and in multiple soccer games. We hope to be able to do this event again next year and have taken note that the BBQ was a great addition to be repeated. 😊
More ways to connect over the summer
Thanks to volunteer parents in the community, we invite you to check out Park Playdates at various parks around town on either Friday or Saturday mornings. Get out and run around in a playground with your little ones or just rock your baby in the stroller or baby carrier while you chat with other parents. Check out the summer line-up for Park Playdates on the right hand side of our Park Playdates page.

Stay tuned for exciting changes to our Family Matters programming starting in October which will bring more regular programming for our early childhood activities.
Follow us on Facebook and check out our events calendar often to stay tuned to updates about all our activities.
Wishing you all a healthy and joyful summer,
Jessica
